Char is into quilting/art in a big way. (shameless plugs of their art blogs :)) Anyway, today I decided I would make an accent pillow for our spare bedroom. Easy enough to do I thought. Not..........! First you have to be a whizz at math...I'm not. Then you actually have to have mastered sewing. I haven't! I know the basics, but... I discovered I'm good at seam ripping. I made this pillow out of scraps and a 4" x 6" print of of my Goldfinches. (That's Lucy sleeping beside the pillow - she refused to move for the photo)
So I have the prototype done (3 hours later) and I know what I won't do next time (of which there are many many things)

Beautiful work. I used to quilt all the time and gave it up when my arms became too weak to move the big blankets under the machine. I have thought of doing some small pieces because it is fun and can be relaxing.
WOW Lee that's a lovely piece of work there, I have never seen anything like your accent pillow, it is truly beautiful. I would not know where to start but I will read up on it.
Thanks for sharing : )
Southie, it's beautiful! It was well worth the 3 hrs. in my opinion! Now you'll have to email me all those tips for what not to do!
I haven't actually printed on the fabric yet - I'm still debating whether to make pillows, potholders, Christmas stockings...
Southie, I have tried 3 times to comment...
I am SOOOO impressed. I wish I could create/paint the focal point like you have done. Your pillow is beautiful! Char
