Cute little bug guards to keep wasps and other nasties out of your drinks in the summer.  (doesn't look like summer out there does it LOL)  I've been working on these, but didn't realize how time consuming they would be with the chain hand sewn on each one.
Really excited that 3 of my paintings are on display in the gallery at the Cultural Center here until January.

Deck the Halls...........Christmas scenes

I have been semi-busy painting, but this time on Christmas balls.  Each one has a different scene painted on it and then german glitter glass sprinkled on.

Laundry Day for Fairies    2.5" x 3.5" acrylic

A whimsical look at Fairies.  Even fairies have to do their laundry from time to time.  Here they have hung out their freshly laundered wings to dry!  You can find this painting listed on Ebay here

Northern Bay 4" x 6" acrylic
I have been woefully neglecting my blog.  And my paintings, but I finally got something done this week.  This is a little different than what I usually do.  I wanted to paint a waterfall and decided I wanted frozen and partially frozen ones.  We've seen frozen waterfalls before and they really are beautiful.  I experimented with the cliff, by using a knife to cut in the rock.

This painting can be found as usual listed on Ebay here

Spirit of the North OSWOA 4 x 6" postcard size painting

Spirit of the North 4" x 6" acrylic

What started out as a painting of Northern Lights, soon took shape of a spirit wolf....I don't know when the idea evolved, but I was actually thinking of the colour of glacial lakes...????...how northern lights and a wolf came out of that I'll never know....sometimes these things just take shape I guess LOL

You will find this 4" x 6" painting listed on Ebay here

Autumn 2.5 x 3.5" ACEO acrylic

Autumn Storm  2.5 x 3.5" acrylic ACEO

Even though the days are still hot hot hot, and we are running the a/c steady, the nights have started cooling off and you can feel that "hint" of fall in the air.  Got me thinking of all the fall colours that will soon be popping up everywhere.  As usual will find my paintings listed on Ebay here  Free shipping within Canada :)

aceo Pressed Flower Art

Pressed Flower Fairy - 2.5" x 3.5"
Something a little different today.  I was bored with just "painting" so I decided to incorporate some pressed flowers into my painting.  The flower was just perfect for her skirt (they pressed flowers are 7 years old so don't ask me what kind) and leaves for her wings....A little pressed flower dragonfly flew by.  This is listed on Ebay here

Guardian Angel 4 x 6" painting

Guardian Angel....4 x 6" acrylic

I did a similar painting last year (but in coloured pencil) and totally ruined it when I tried to put the finishing sealent on it.  So....I decided to try again, but with acrylics this time....I darn near ruined it again, but managed to finish and get it listed this time.  You will find this painting on Ebay here

Cityscape aceo

City Lights 2.5" x 3.5" acrylic

Something slightly different from my usual.  I thought I would try a cityscape.....I love when we are in the city how the lights reflect off Wascana lake...and although this depicts a slightly larger city than where I live, the reflection is still the same.....You will find this painting listed on EBay here

new paintings on vintage newsprint

Both of these have been painted on 76 year old newsprint.  The newsprint is the march 1936 edition of the Nor'West Farmer Newspaper.....They are both listed on Ebay.  You can see them here

Ropin'  4" x 6" acrylic on vintage newsprint

 Magpies - 6" x 4" acrylic on vintage newsprint

I am hooked on painting on vintage newsprint.  I am using only the newspapers I have that are "ripped" already.  Ever since I painted the magpies on 100+ year old journal paper back February I've been fascinated with old paper.  I am torn between 5 x 7 or the postcard size 4 x 6 so I've decided on the postcard size....it's still small in nature (the size I like to paint) but can still be framed.

You will find these two listed on Ebay here

CHAPS.....6" X 4" ACRYLIC ON VINTAGE PAPER

I am trying something new.....I have a ton of old newspapers for the 30's....I also have some old magazines from the 50's and older.  They are not in good shape so I can't really sell them as is, so I decided to paint on them.  This one is form the March 1936 Edition of the Nor-West Farmer...This newspaper was out of Calgary Alberta so what would be better to depict life in Alberta than a cowboy!!!  Makes you think of the Calgary Stampede doesn't it.

This like most of my pieces is listed on Ebay here.  I am hoping to do more of these in the coming days.
Ok, here goes....I'm so confused with this new format...and I haven't been blogging much lately so haven't had a chance to play with it.

Dragon Storm.  2.5" x 3.5" acrylic

I'm still loving dragons...I think it's from my obsession with the books A song of Ice and Fire....I love everthing about the books....I'm on the last one...Book 5,  A Dance with Dragons......hard reading, but worth it.  Anyway, I have been painting dragons....this one is listed on Ebay...you will find it here

Tears of a Dragon Storm - aceo listed today

 aceo 2.5" x 3.5" acrylic
Tears of a Dragon Storm

Finally after a lengthy uninspired period, I've finally painted today.  It was a dark and gloomy day and I decided it was a perfect day to paint some lightning and a storm.  I like the term "eye of the storm" and have done a couple of "eyes"  This one is a dragon's eye.  You will find this painting listed on Ebay here

aceo March Theme Week

Spring Showers 2.5" x 3.5" acylic

 Spring Melt 2.5" x 3.5" acrylic

These are the other two entries for the March Theme week, Signs of Spring.  Around here, spring means lots and lots of slush and snow melting everywhere.  Kids come home soaked everyday from playing in all the water and muck.  Lots of fun.  As the snow finally fades away, we usually get a few good weeks of rain to wash all of winter's grime away.  You will find both of these listed on Ebay here

March Theme Week is "signs of Spring" Pussy Willows

Pussy Willows 2.5" x 3.5" acrylic/Ink

March Theme Week at the ACEO group on Ebay is "Signs of Spring".  I decided to go out of my comfort zone a bit and do something a little different from what I usually do.  Here is my rendtion of the first signs of Spring.  what else????  Pussy Willows of course :)  You will find this piece listed on Ebay here:  Pussy Willows

Magpies - painted on 146 year old ledger paper

It all started out with a sheet of ledger paper that I was given......a perfect size for a 5" x 7" painting....No books were harmed with this painting.....I was given one random sheet from a store ledger.
I did just a little background painting

 Then I added a tree......living or dead?
 Then came the Magpies.....
 Started with the black.......
 added some white.......
then finished with some colour because I'm sure they aren't perfectly black and white...although the ones around here are so nervous you never really get a good look at them....

ACEO snow angel acrylic with Northern Lights

Snow Angel 2.5" x 3.5" acrylic

It has turned bitterly cold here.....as in -40 with windchill this morning.  We don't have that much snow still, but with the onset of cold, it certainly makes it easier to get inspired to paint winter scenes.   This is my rendition of a snow angel, but she's all alone under the Northern Lights :)  As usual you will find my painting listed on Ebay here

Icycles - aceo - acrylic painting

Spring Thaw 2.5" x 3.5" acrylic

It's a little early to be thinking about Spring Thaw, but we've had such an unusually warm winter so far (who would think if would be 8+ degrees in January) that you can't help but think of the coming spring.  We literally have no snow on the ground...Unheard of here in Saskatchewan.  Anyway, I wanted to show my rendition of spring thaw.  Something a little different.  You will find this little painting listed on Ebay here

Ice Fishing painting aceo size

Ice Fishing - 2.5" x 3.5" acrylic

Another ice fishing painting.  I like to paint the seasons I'm in, so I will probably be painting winter ones for awhile :)  This is listed like always on Ebay here

aceo Ice Fishing, Fisherman at Sunset painting

Catch of the Day   2.5" x 3.5" acrylic

It hasn't been a very cold winter so far.  In fact here in Saskatchewan it's been one of the warmest winters on record.  Believe me...I'm not complaining.  People have started ice fishing...I'm not sure how thick the ice is, but the die hards are out there.  We haven't gone yet.  Anyway, this is my rendition of icefishing up north.  I have listed it on Ebay here

Spirit Wolf returns Northern Lights painting

"Shadows"  6" x 4" acrylic
First painting from me in 2012...It is the second one in my Footprints in the snow series.  I listed it on Ebay here
