Pressed flower art

I was hot and heavy into this a few years back. I sometimes wonder if I should start doing this again. I liked combining painting with pressed petals, seeds etc. I gave this piece away, but I have a similar one packed away for myself. The problem I found was the preparation. I spent all summer collecting, pressing, cataloging, but when you ran out, you were done. So many intereesting things could be done. Lily petals made the most wonderful fairy wings. Tomatillos made great umbrellas. The sky was the limit.

Christmas is over - What's next - Family reunion?

Christmas is so chaotic at my house. My daughter comes home with her family. Her siblings and their children come over daily to visit. Everyone goes crazy trying to fill in months worth of visiting into one tiny week. Christmas is gone and it's so quiet here again. Oh sure, my other daughters come over. I still have the rest of the grandchildren. But it's not the same as when the entire crew is together. So what next. We are already talking about our yearly "reunion' of camping on a long weekend. This year we are going to all get together for the May long weekend. Elk Island, Alberta. The place will never be the same. We are in full planning mode to pack as much as we can into 3 days. I think we will have a "tacky" swap this year (bring the tackiest item we have found at a garage sale to be swapped ) I am already thinking of the things I can do for this :) All the grandchildren are waiting with great anticipation. They love nothing better than getting together with their cousins. I hope these camping trips never end. Besides Christmas, I think they are the most "looked forward to" events on the calendar. Creating wonderful memories for all of us to keep.

Here is a couple of pics from other camping reuions. One at Cypress Hills, and one at Waskasiu

Owen and Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy

On the bottom of this page you will find a Youtube video my duaghter made, that is about my grandson Owen. Please take the time to watch this and learn about Duchenne's. The more people that are aware of this disorder the more that might be done to find a cure. Thank you

added: Jan 15/08 I just realized that the playlist on this blog interferes with the music on the Youtube of Owen. Please go here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Br8TMwU-mTo to see the video as it should be.

Catching up on news.

Why is it that January always seems to be such a disorganized month? Left overs from the chaos at Christmas I guess. I finally managed to get all my mail sent to the Post Office (paintings that sold) Got my cast off my leg. I still walk kind of strange, but at least the darn thing is off LOL. I painted a couple more ravens, but I think I will move on to a different theme now. One painting is "Crow's Nest" the other is "Reflection" Enjoy!

Tea Reading

Have you ever had your tea leaves read? I did years ago. It was interesting at the time. She said so many things that seemed so fantastic at the time. How did she know????? Some things she said came true, many did not. The art form seemed to be in making it believable. That in itself was a gift I guess.

Today I painted a tea reading. But this time it's the "trickster" who has shown up to read.

As usual an oswoa, listed on Ebay here

It's all about Crows or should I say Ravens

How the Moon was Born

The Trickster

Finally all the holiday festivities are over and things are getting back to normal????. I managed to get two new paintings done today. I have hopped on the Crow train and decided to put my two cents worth in. Crows are always facinating. They are mischievous, noisy, social, and very friendly. Enjoy.

Both are OSWOA (original small works of art 4" x 6") and can be found on Ebay here
