Dollhouse Paintings - Winter Scene, Aurora Borealis

Keeping up with my Aurora thing, I also decided to catch up on some dollhouse paintings. It's been since before Christmas that I painted some of these little mini's. (1.5" x 2")I alway put off painting these saying I need new brushes. Well I purchased some so I had no excuse.

You will find these listed on Ebay here

Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights Paintings

I was in the right mood today so I painted new Aurora paintings. The weather has been so clear and nice that I'm sure that's what inspired me to do so. An OSWOA®, and aceo, and two minis. To find out what oswoa and aceo stands for please look at my Ebay listings. I needed these paintings for my Etsy store, but decided to list on Ebay first. You will find them here

Musings of a Grandmother.

I wanted to post something witty here about being a grandmother, but I'm not much of a writer. I am thrilled at the prospect of another grandchild. Oh sure, the 6 we have now make our house chaotic at times, but it's a happy chaotic. We just got news that our youngest daughter is expecting her 2nd child. That will make 7 grandchildren for us 10 and under. Lucky number 7( or 8 or 9 or.....whatever comes - they have come in multiples in this family). They will all be lucky for us. Each one is so different from the other in their own special way. From the twinkle in their eye when they call Grampa "Poopsie" to the quiet little moments when they still sit on my knee. My horoscope said that this year would be rewarding. I know it has been already :)

Recipe Contest - Ebay aceo group

I Love cooking. I love to mess with food. What better thing to come up than the contest running in groups right now for the cookbook they are getting together. We get to combine our cooking skills together with our art skills. Here is my entry. Swiss Chard/Bison Rolls (sort of a play on cabbage rolls)

Tall Ships and the Sea Paintings

Being a flatlander I have a fascination of ships and the sea. I love pirate movies and books. I hardly ever get to see ships or the ocean, but when I do, I am thrilled. We were lucky to sail on a replica of a pirate ship this winter while in Puerto Vallarta. It was a clear night with very little wind. Not too cool. Perfect. It was a blast!!!
I am working on a new ship painting, but it won't be ready for a while. In the meantime I thought I would show you some of the ships I have done in the past. All the paintings were OSWOA ® (original small works of art 4" x 6")All have been sold. Enjoy.

March in like a lion.....

In Like A Lion, Out Like A Lamb
This phrase has its origins with the constellations Leo, the Lion, and Aries, the ram or lamb. It has to do with the relative positions of these constellations in the sky at the beginning and end of the month.. ..but I think most people think that it has to do with the weather. Fierce in it's entry and gentle when it leaves. What does this mean where I live. Yesterday (March 1)was +4 degrees C and today (March 2) it is -31 c with the windchill. Can't make up it's mind. Still it's nice to know that spring is just around the corner (weeks away instead of months) The sun is warmer and the days are getting longer. I can't wait :)

In Like A Lion, Out Like A Lamb
by Lorie Hill

March roars in like a lion
So fierce,
The wind so cold,
It seems to pierce.
The month rolls on
And Spring draws near
And March goes out
Like a lamb so dear.

Sunflower Painting - Oils - OSWOA®

I think I must be tired of the grey and whites of winter. Out of boredom this week, I decided to play with oils again. I used a technique where you paint the image in black and white acrylics first. Then layer with oils to give strong vibrant colours. This is an OSWOA® (original small works of art 4" x 6") and can be found on Ebay here

lotus or water lily painting

looking for a different view I decided to paint this lily. I used mainly shades of muted green. Very serene and peaceful. Then the lily........white in stark contrast. 2.5" x 3.5" smaller than I usually paint. Enjoy.

It can be found on ebay here
