Instead of scanning these I'm going to have to take a photo of them with the camera instead. The colour is just not showing up and the painting is brighter than this. I painted over top the last painting and did something different. Took out the lighthouse and added some firs. It definitely has a Northern Dawn look to it. With my "repainting" though, the feather is looking a little bewildered.

Mystical castle and dragon - aceo
I am trying to learn to paint using a lighter hand. Usually I just glob on the paint and if it's thick....that's the way it is. I like the look of watercolor, but know that you can't "glob" it on. So today I watered down my acrylics and tried to keep it "light".
I can see the potential in this technique, but am not sure that I have the patience (or the attention span)to think through the process before I put it to paper. It seems very unforgiving and if you make a slip up, it's there to glare at everyone forever.
This is an aceo size little painting (2.5" x 3.5") and is listed on Ebay here
Thanks for looking :)

Artist Round Robin #2
I am taking part in a round robin again with the aceo group of artists on Ebay. I am in a group of 4 artists. We each start a 5" x 7" painting and then pass it to the next artist. The finished piece is returned to the original artist to keep, sell or whatever they wish. This is the piece I just received. A container of paint brushes. I am the first to add to this piece. (sorry the photo is so grey, I have no idea why it is) I was a little intimidated when I received this and couldn't for the life of me figure out what to add to it. And then it came to me.........

lighting and lighthouses
Both of these paintings use the illumination of light at night. One uses moonlight the other the bold tones of lighting. In the lighthouse one you can't see the moon, yet it's literally covering everything with it's light.
This is one of my favourites. Lighting lights up the sky, the water and everything around it. Electricity is definitely in air.
Both paintings are 4" x 6" OSWOA (original small works of art) OSWOA must
always be 4" x 6" and be the original not a print or they are not OSWOA. I have used acrylic on sturdy 185 lb canvas paper for both. They are listed on Ebay here

Birch and Magpies
These magpies have all congregated on the ground doing whatever it is magpies do. I know you call a flock of crows a "murder of crows" but what are magpies? probably a flock. I left out the road kill they are probably eating. This aceo size painting is on acid free canvas paper and is ready to be framed alone or would look great in an aceo grouping.
It is listed on Ebay here

Tall Ship - Schooner - ACEO
I'm on a ship binge right now. This one is heading out for some sort of adventure, but you can't tell is it's getting stormy or not.....but it's definitely windy. Painted with acrylics this 2.5" x 3.5" aceo is signed and sealed and listed on Ebay here :)
Painted Feather Experiment #1
I've painted feathers before, but it's been awhile. I decided to try it again. It's not like riding a bike...I have forgotten how I did this. This is my first attempt at refreshing my memory. You can barely make out the lighthouse and reflection. It's supposed to be daybreak.
I think I would like the colours more pronounced. I'm not sure if I will try another feather tonight or not. I have some other ideas on how I want to handle the feather (which is tricky at best) and next time I purchase feathers I will look a little more closely at how the feather is holding together (not all feathers are created equal it seems) In the spring I think I will go out on the prairie and see if I can find some seagull feathers to paint on.

Winter White - The original mink stole
Who says you can't wear white after September long weekend? (or so the old saying goes) This one is wearing her mink stole proudly .....wait a minute....she is the mink! Trying ever so hard to blend into the snow around her, she can't help but try and get a look at what's going on......painted with acrylics this 2.5" x 3.5" piece is listed on Ebay here
Tall ships - Storms - Pirates
One ship out in the storm (aceo 2.5" x 3.5") A fearless pirate group heading for their next bounty
This ship come silently out of the mist. Sneaking up on it's unsuspecting target......(acrylic 2.5" x 3.5")
These are both listed on Ebay here

Redpolls - EBSQ art
I am thrilled to have won "Patron's Choice" for my painting of Redpolls at EBSQart for the art exhibit "Grey" that took place in January. I love the little redpolls that visit us in the winter. They mainly stay far far up north, but in the winter months when food is scarce they make their way as far south as southern Saskatchewan. They come to my feeders most of the winter and disappear as soon as it starts to warm up a little. They will probably be gone in a couple of weeks. You can see the rest of the show here at EBSQart

WIP finished - Glitter in the Air
"Glitter in the Air" finished. I cropped it at 4" x 6". I just cleaned up the background, added some glitter to her costume, drew in some vague tattoos and applied a fixative so it doesn't smear or fade.

WIP - Pink - Glitter in the Air
Work in Progress......Pink performing "Glitter in the Air" at this year's grammy's. I still have a lot to work on this, but it's coming along not to badly. I think the finished piece should be somewhere around postcard size although I'm not sure...it seems to be taking a life of it's own and I'm not sure what size I will crop it at. You can see the beginning photos of the piece here
WIP - Pink's performance at the Grammy's
Last Sunday we watched the Grammy's on tv. I thought Pink's performance of her song "Glitter in the Air" was the best I've seen on the Grammy's

Stilettos pearls and a rose.......
Stilettos, pearls and a red rose on a black marble floor.......the only thing missing is the cougar :) Painted with acrylics on 185 lb canvas paper, this 4" x 6" painting will fit in the standard photo sleeve or can be framed on it's own. Perfect for your own collection or gift giving.
I have this painting entered in the EBSQart flower of the month exhibit for February. You will find this painting listed here on Ebay....
Round Robin #2 aceo group - WIP
5" x 7" unfinished piece - untitled
The ACEO group that I belong to is hosting another artist Round Robin. The first one was a smashing success and everyone involved had a great time. This time I'm in a group of 4 artists and each of us will start a painting then send on to the next artist and so on until the original piece returns to us. This is my start. An underwater castle? Magical Kingdom? Another world? The other artists will dictate the direction this piece takes. I will post the finished piece in a few weeks when it returns :)
