Kinookimaw Ice Fishing Shack - Work in Progress

I don't think our ice fishing shack ever had any paint on it. After years of neglect, we finally decided to do something about it.
I usually paint in miniature, so this was a huge departure from what I usually do. But I figured what the heck. If it didn't turn out....I'd just paint over it and no one would be the wiser. Here is the first wall done. I have no idea if I'll get to the othe walls or not. Depends on the weather and my stamina. In the mean time. We will have one "scenic" wall when we are out on the lake this winter.

Spam & Trout Art Show - Seascape humour

September's theme show at EBSQart is Trout & Spam. A tongue in cheek show that the artist can interpret anyway they like. I hated spam as a kid......and believe me, my mother found many many ways to serve it. Here is my entry for the show. I'm not sure if I think Spam is a seafood in disguise, or if I think it's worthy of only fish bait, but this is where I think that all Spam should end up.........at the bottom of the sea. This is aceo size (2.5" x 3.5") smaller than what I usually enter. I still tried to get as many details in as I could. You can see my entry and all the other entries at EBSQart
Enjoy the show!!!

Kinookimaw Grouse Birding

These two showed up in our yard. I don't know what happened to their mother, but they aren't too afraid of us. They seem more interested in finding yummy bugs. I've left them a water supply, so hopefully if Mom is gone they will manage on their own.

Tall Ship - Storm at Sea

I have painted several "tall ships" but decided I should give a stormy one a try. I think Hurricane Ike had something to do with it. I can't imagine how many ships were lost at sea years ago with no way of accurately forecasting weather systems. This is an aceo sized acrylic (2.5" x 3.5") and is listed on Ebay here

City Skyline - September Challenge

I painted this for the Abstract Art, Traditional Art & Collectors group's monthly challenge. September's challenge was "skylines". We were given several reference photos to choose from. Toronto, Dallas, Chicago as well as various country sunsets. I chose Dallas. It is aceo size (3.5" x 2.5") and is listed on Ebay here

Kinookimaw Fall Scenes

Looking out over Last Mountain lake from our back deck. The top two photos are from the front deck overlooking Kinookimaw itself. All the fall colours seemed to have arrived overnight. One week everything was green. A million birds around and then boom....just like that Fall was here. I could hear cranes flying over the other day. They are headed south. I didn't see if they were Whoopers or not. We are hoping to see eagles. We usually see them in the spring and then again in the fall.

The house listing is here:

Mist, fog, eagles and tall ships

There has been so much mist on the lake in the early morning that it has got me painting mist. Out of the Mist is an aceo of a tall ship just appearing out of the fog. The other is Morning Mist. Early morning is always so quiet. You can just imagine the picture of an eagle catching his breakfast in the silence of the forest. We usually see a few eagles this time of year hanging out for a day or two by the lake. Hopefully we won't be disappointed this year.

Listed on Ebay here

Harvest paintings etc.

I listed these the other night. You can tell fall is in the air. Everywhere you direction you look you can see the little dust bowls from the combines in the distance. We have had only one good frost so far, so the weather has been holding.
You will find these on Ebay listed here

Break from Painting - Wearable Art

I took some time off from painting. I wanted to try some new things and sort of get the creative juices flowing again. I did!!!!! Anyway, I will be listing some paintings later today or tomorrow. In the meantime I have been working on some "wearable art". Of "altered art" jeans. I am keeping a photo journal which I will share at a later date. It's a work in progress and I have really had to tweak what I'm doing.

Seascape Storm painting (lighthouse)

I think all the cold, dismal weather we've been having is rubbing off on my paintings. This is "Silent Sentry". A stormy seascape. As usual aceo size that is listed here

Tall Ship Night Scene - painting

When we were in Mexico last winter we took a "tour" on the pirate ship at night. Besides being an absolutel blast, the lights were spectacular!!! That memory was my inspiration for this painting. ACEO size 3.5" x 2.5". As always, it is listed on Ebay here
