Ah, the Theatre. That magical place where illusion and artifice become delightful fact with the dimming of the lights and the lifting of the curtain. August Monthly themed exhibition at EBSQart is "Welcome to the Theatre". I decided to enter two of my mimes. Both are OSWOA size. Done in rich tone artist quality coloured pencil I chose to use black and white only with only a touch of red for drama. You may see the exhibition here at EBSQart.com

Northern Lights - Winter Scene
I like to paint in season, but it's been chilly the last couple of days so it must have got me thinking about Winter. I have used variations of only two colours on this. The colours of winter, blue and white. Aceo sized (2.5" x 3.5") you can find the painting listed ( Dancing Lights) here
Black Unicorn - Lightning
You would think that he would be smart enough to get out of the water during a lightning storm (but this is probably why they are not around anymore LOL) I like painting night scenes, so I gave this unicorn a gothic flare by making him black. "Out of the Storm" is aceo size (2.5" x 3.5") and is listed today here

Fairy Tears #2 - mixed media
Fairy Tears #2. The first one I did, I was looking for realism. This one I have gone total fantasy. She is crying gem stones. (ouch, that would hurt) I mean, think about it....fairies would never cry normal would they? This is done with coloured pencils, acrylics and a lot of glitter to make her magical! It is aceo size (3.5" x 2.5") and is listed on Ebay here

Covered Bridge and Northern Lights (new)
Northern Lights...which for some reason, seem to captivate everyone's imagination. Mine included. They are starting to get much more active now. September promises to be even better. We are going to be in Cypress Hills in September so I'm hoping for a huge show at the night sky look out tower.
The second piece is a (can you believe it) a daytime piece. Once in awhile I paint something in daylight and not gloomy night. Just my idea of an old covered bridge in the summer. Both are aceos (2.5" x 3.5") and are listed on here on Ebay

Raven Rose - Colored Pencil
I got up this morning eager to start 3 new cards. Either the heat, humidity or unseen forces showed up, but all I finished was one. (maybe tomorrow for the other two) This is a colored pencil drawing of a rose with a raven watching in the background. I think I am about done with pencils for awhile, and will go back to acrylics for a bit. I have several new ideas I want to try painting. Anyway.....this is an aceo sized art card (2.5" x 3.5") and is listed here on Ebay.
I also realized today, that there is only 2 weeks left of August. Things always seem to get so busy September and October. I should be painting now and get ready for it, but I seem to do one here or there and never have any in reserve.

Fairy Tears - Colored Pencil
Still playing with my colored pencils. I thought it was a perfect opportunity to see if I could use the same principles of colour to get depth in the eye. Here is what the outcome was. An aceo called "Fairy Tears". It is listed on Ebay here
Thanks for taking a peek. :)

Is it a tomato? Work in Progress finished
So here it is ...start to finish. I'm not sure anyone would ever tell that it's a tomato, but it's definitely red......and it looks like someone through it in water.....so......close enough. I decided the post could stay! LOL Actually it's good practise with the use of coloured pencils on how to create depth. Challenge rules say I must list this on the 20th, so we'll see how it goes :) Thanks for taking a peek.

Lightning Storm painting with horse
Here is a new painting tonight. I don't usually paint animals and certainly not a horse running, but I thought "what the heck" I'll give it a try. So here is an aceo titled "Running with the Storm" or if the horse had a brain he would be running away from the storm! Painted with acrylics, it is aceo size (2.5" x 3.5") I have listed it on Ebay here
is it a tomato? Work in Progress
Now you have to ask yourself....Does this remotely look like a tomato? Hopefully it will. I am doing this for the Abstract Art, Traditional Art & Collectors group monthly challenge. It is a tomato splashing in a bowl of water. This is my pencil sketch and the first wash with a green pencil of the tomato. It will either turn out, or I will delete the whole post LOL. Stay tuned to see what I do with this in the next few days.

August Challenge - Clear - Colored Pencils - Marbles
Over at the Abstract Art, Traditional Art & Collectors group, the August challenge is "Clear". We have about 6 reference photos to choose from and then have to do our version of that photo (any medium) I chose to do these marbles in a 4" x 6" size. Coloured pencils (different from my usual acrylics.) These then are listed on Ebay on the 20th of the month. Awards go to most unique bids etc.
Begonia - EBSQart flower of the month (August)
This month's flower at EBSQart if the Begonia. I have painted this 3.5" x 2.5" miniature with acrylics. You can find the painting here at EBSQart
